Reading in Surah Qaf

إن الحمدَ للهِ, نحمده و نستعينه و نستغفره و نعوذ بالله من شرور أنفسنا و سيّْئات أعمالنا. من يهـده الله فلآ مضل له و من يضلل فلا هـادي له.

و أشـهـد أن لا إله إلا ألله و حـده لا شـريك له, و أشـهـد أن محمّدا عبده و رسوله, بلّغ الرساله و أدّى ألأمانه و نصح ألأمه فَتَركها على المحجَّة البيضاء ليلها كنهارها لا يزيغ عنها إلا هالك. اللهم صلّي و سلم و بارك على سيّدنا محمّد و على آله و صحبه و من سـار على نهجـه.

أمّـا بَعدُ: فإنّ خير الحديث كتـاب الله, و خير الهـدي هدي محَمّـد, و شرّ الأمور مُحدثـاتـهـا و كلّ بدعـة ضلالة.

عباد الله, أوصيكم و نفسي بتقوى الله و طاعته, فقد فاز المتقون.

My dearest brothers and sisters,

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ(16)إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى الْمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنْ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنْ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٌ(17)مَا يَلْفِظُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ(18)وَجَاءَتْ سَكْرَةُ الْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّ ذَلِكَ مَا كُنْتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُ(19)وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ الْوَعِيدِ(19) وَجَاءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَعَهَا سَائِقٌ وَشَهِيدٌ(21)لَقَدْ كُنْتَ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مِنْ هَذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنْكَ غِطَاءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ الْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٌ(22)وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُ هَذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ(23)أَلْقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ(24)مَنَّاعٍ لِلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ مُرِيبٍ(25)الَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَاهُ فِي الْعَذَابِ الشَّدِيدِ(26)قَالَ قَرِينُهُ رَبَّنَا مَا أَطْغَيْتُهُ وَلَكِنْ كَانَ فِي ضَلَالٍ بَعِيدٍ(27)قَالَ لَا تَخْتَصِمُوا لَدَيَّ وَقَدْ قَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْكُمْ بِالْوَعِيدِ(28) مَا يُبَدَّلُ الْقَوْلُ لَدَيَّ وَمَا أَنَا بِظَلَّامٍ لِلْعَبِيدِ(29)يَوْمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلْ امْتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ مَزِيدٍ(30)وَأُزْلِفَتْ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ(31)هَذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظٍ(32)مَنْ خَشِيَ الرَّحْمَانَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَجَاءَ بِقَلْبٍ مُنِيبٍ(33)ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ الْخُلُودِ(34)لَهُمْ مَا يَشَاءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٌ(35) – سورة ق

My beloved brothers and sisters, these Ayahs from Surah Qaf are so important to understand because they explain a process that each one of us will go through. These Ayahs, talk about a fact that is very easy to forget, yet it is very important to remember and be prepared to face. Those Ayahs talk about our lives, our death, our resurrection and most important than all that is our accountability before Allah.

Yes! My beloved brothers and sisters, these Ayahs talk about me and you being on our own, alone, talking to ourselves without realizing that Allah (swt) is ever watchful on us.

These Ayahs, brothers and sisters, talk about you and me being taken by a shock, going through the most difficult moments of our lives, in fact the very last moments of our lives at the time of death.

These Ayahs, brothers and sisters, talk about you and me being resurrected and brought before Allah (swt) to be held accountable for our deeds.

These Ayahs, my beloved brothers and sisters, talk about the reward which Allah has prepared for those who do good. And, they talk about the punishment which Allah has prepared for those who turned their faces away from the truth and enjoyed evil.

Listen carefully to what Allah (swt) says, open your mind and heart and heed the words of Allah:

“And We created man and We know best what his soul whispers to him; For We are nearer to him than his jugular vein. Behold! Two guardians are appointed to note what he does, one on his right and one on his left. Not a word he utters but there is a guardian ready to record it.”

Then my dearest brothers and sisters, the moment which everyone of us wishes to avoid. The moment which no one wishes to meet comes. It certainly will come to everyone on the face of this earth, it comes all of a sudden, un-announced :

وَجَاءَتْ سَكْرَةُ الْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّ ذَلِكَ مَا كُنْتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُ(19)

“And the stupor of death will bring truth (before his eyes): This was the thing which you were trying to escape”

The moment of death brings truth before everyone’s eyes, but it is too late by then. It is too late to make use of the knowledge one gains at the moment of death.

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَأْتِيَهُمْ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِيَ رَبُّكَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَ بَعْضُ آيَاتِ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِي بَعْضُ آيَاتِ رَبِّكَ لَا يَنفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَانُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِي إِيمَانِهَا خَيْرًا قُلْ انتَظِرُوا إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ(158) – الانعام

“Are they waiting for the angels to come to them or your Lord come to them or signs from your Lord shall come to them. When signs from your Lord come, on that day no faith will be useful to any soul if it did not have faith from before or it had used its faith in doing good. Say wait and we shall wait, too”

On that day my beloved brothers and sisters,

Tyrants will know that their sins bring them nothing but loss.

Disbelievers will know that Allah is the only true God.

Anyone who associated anything with Allah will know that Allah is the only savior.

But, all this knowledge will be useless then. It will be too late to make use of this true knowledge. There will be no way that anyone could do anything to reverse the time or come back to do something with what he had discovered.

My, beloved brothers and sisters, be prepared for that moment, you know the truth, make use of it now, otherwise, you might get caught un-aware and you never know if you can by then make use of what you know.

وَجَاءَتْ سَكْرَةُ الْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّ ذَلِكَ مَا كُنْتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُ(19)

My dearest brothers and sisters, had death been the end, it would have been easy. But, death is nothing but the beginning of a new journey, a much longer journey,

وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ الْوَعِيدِ(19) وَجَاءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَعَهَا سَائِقٌ وَشَهِيدٌ(21)لَقَدْ كُنْتَ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مِنْ هَذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنْكَ غِطَاءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ الْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٌ(22)

“And the trumpet shall be blown: that is the Day whereof warning had been given. And there will come forth every soul; with it will be an angle to drive it and an angle to bear witness. You were heedless of this, now We removed your veil, and sharp is your sight this Day.”

When the trumpet is blown, my dearest brothers and sisters, and we all come out from our graves, in shock and fear and we are brought to a gathering of trillions of people. Each person is waiting for his or her turn to meet with Allah and be accountable for what he has done. That is a moment that you want to be prepared for. You cannot escape because an angle will be driving your soul and you cannot deny anything of your deeds because an angle is there to with you to bear witness to what you have done in your life. When every word you uttered and every deed you did will be brought to you in a book and presented to you for inspection, you cannot deny anything.

No one, brothers and sisters, can comprehend the seen on that day. It is beyond our limited human imagination. But, be sure it is coming and be sure that two eye witnesses will be there with every one to bear witness on his account before the most just Allah (swt). Yet, my dearest, Allah (swt) gives you super natural memory at that moment. That you will remember everything you did even the slightest and then you are asked if you deny a word of what is presented in your records. Then

وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُ هَذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ(23)

“And his companion will say: here is (his record ready with me)”

أَلْقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ(24)مَنَّاعٍ لِلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ مُرِيبٍ(25)الَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَاهُ فِي الْعَذَابِ الشَّدِيدِ(26)

“Throw into Hellfire every stubborn rejecter of Allah. Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions. Who set up another god beside Allah; throw him into sever penalty.”

قَالَ قَرِينُهُ رَبَّنَا مَا أَطْغَيْتُهُ وَلَكِنْ كَانَ فِي ضَلَالٍ بَعِيدٍ(27)قَالَ لَا تَخْتَصِمُوا لَدَيَّ وَقَدْ قَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْكُمْ بِالْوَعِيدِ(28) مَا يُبَدَّلُ الْقَوْلُ لَدَيَّ وَمَا أَنَا بِظَلَّامٍ لِلْعَبِيدِ(29)

“His companion will say: Our Lord! I did not make him transgress, but he was far astray. Allah will say: Don not dispute with each other in My presence; I had already sent you warning in advance. The word changes not with Me and I do not do injustice to My servants.”

That is the truth my dearest brothers and sisters, no dispute will be entertained, no arguments will be heard and no excuse will be accepted. Only solid facts will be accepted:

يَوْمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلْ امْتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ مَزِيدٍ

“On that Day We will say to Hell: Are you filled to your fill. It will say: Are there anymore?”

اللهم إنا نعوذ بجلال و جهك من النار

O Allah! We seek refuge with you against the fire of Hell.

عباد الله, أقول قولي هذا و أستغفر ألله العظيم لي و لكم. فاستغفروه.

الحمد لله ربّ العالمين, حمد الشاكرين , حمدا كثيرا طيبا كما أمر. و صلى الله و سلم و بارك على سيّدنا محمد و على آله و صحبه.

أمّا بعد:

Brothers and sisters,

We have seen what what punishment has Allah prepared for those who reject the truth and commit evil. But, Allah (swt) is just and merciful. Allah (swt) also prepared great reward for those who accepted the truth and did good in their lives. Allah (swt) says:

وَأُزْلِفَتْ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ(31)هَذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظٍ(32)مَنْ خَشِيَ الرَّحْمَانَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَجَاءَ بِقَلْبٍ مُنِيبٍ(33)ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ الْخُلُودِ(34)لَهُمْ مَا يَشَاءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٌ(35) – سورة ق

“And the gardens of heaven us brought near to the righteous. This is what was promised for you, for everyone who turned to Allah in sincere repentance. Who feared Allah most gracious un-seen. And brought a heart turned in devotion to Allah. Enter therein in Peace and security. This is a day of eternal life. There will be for them therein all that they wish and more besides in Our Presence.”

May Allah grant us his mercy, his forgiveness and love.

We ask Allah to make us among those whose hearts are filled with love for Allah and for all good.

عباد الله:

إن الله العظيم الجليل امركم بامر كريم, بدأ به نفسـه و ثنى بملائكته المسبحة بقدسه و ثلث بكم من إنسه و جنه, فقال و لم يزل قائلا حكيما, تنبيها لنا و تعليما:

"إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا"

لبيك اللهم صلي و سلم و بارك على سيدنا محمد و على آله و صحبه و من إهـتدى بهديه و أقتدى بسنته إلى يوم الدين.
